This February jole rider will ship its 28th sea container of bikes to schools in West Africa.
Inside, along with 300+ other bikes, will be one very special bike destined for a schoolchild in The Gambia.
That bike will be the 10,000th bicycle delivered by jole rider since the bikes4Africa programme began in 2006.
Soon we will have helped more than 10,000 children in Africa to reach their school, fresh, alert and ready to learn.
Rotary Clubs across the UK and Ireland have been involved with our work at different levels.
And this involvement is continuing to expand into the far four corners of RIBI.
Some Clubs have collected bikes and some have collected money to help fund our work.
Others have helped by hosting and supporting Eddie, our Guinness World Record breaking cyclist, in his quest to fundraise.
In celebration of this partnership we would like to invite your Club to sponsor just one of the bikes in this special shipment.
The sponsored bike will be Badged, as in the examples below, and delivered to a School in The Gambia in late April.
The Badged bike will form part of a fleet of 101 school bikes delivered to the same school.
Badging a Bike involves placing the sponsor’s own personal message on a bike we deliver to a school in Africa.
The numbered Badge can include the name of your Club as well as an inspiring message.
And the cost to Badge A Bike is just £60.
Launched in December, the Badge A Bike scheme is already supported by well-known people including Jon Snow and John Humphrys.
It is a new, personal and very special way of supporting our bikes4Africa programme.

The Club will receive photos of the badge and the bike in Africa contained in a Special Certificate. These include the bike being loaded in Dover, unloaded in Africa, and handed over to the receiving school.

The fleet of Badged Bikes will be loaded on wed29feb outside the gates of HM Prison Dover.
Dover being one of the HMP establishments which partner jole rider in the bikes4Africa programme.
And you and your Club would be most welcome to join us there with the media and other celebrants on the day.

It will be a marvellous thing if every bike we ship in February has a badge with a Rotary Club name on it

Can we start with yours?

You can find more information about the Badging scheme at Badge A Bike.

For more information about our work generally, please visit our website at www.jolerider.org

For information about supporting our work you will need our detailed Rotary Information Pack.

I will be happy to forward you a copy by email.

Otherwise do please call me if I can help by answering any questions you might like to ask.

Thanks to the partnership with Rotary, jole rider has enabled more than 10,000 children

to reach school, fresh, alert and ready to learn

The number of students at rural schools who gained 5 or more credits (entry requirement for university)

has more than doubled as a direct result of the provision of bicycles.
Also, students at rural schools are achieving Aggregate Scores of 6 [TOP marks]

for the first time in the country’s history.

We look forward to working with your Club, as well as the increasing number of others, over the coming year

My very kind regards and thanks
