Walking / Activity Weekend 2012
The Walking Weekend with a difference........
Your Sports Officer has come up with a splendid notion for this annual event based on a successful trip by luxury coach undertaken by the Lowestoft Rotary Club.
Suggested itinerary is as follows :
Friday :

Travel to Leeds in time for a visit to the Royal Armouries before staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel formerly The Golden Lion (TBC)
Saturday :

We start our day in the heart of Summer Wine country at Holmfirth, where we are met by a local guide who will entertain you with personal stories and anecdotes from the famous TV series, as well as pointing out familiar landmarks. From Holmfirth we head through the Colne Valley, setting for Where the Heart Is to Bradford and a fascinating visit to the National Media Museum. Here the story of TV & film unfolds from the past through to the future and as an added bonus we have included a private showing of one of TV's classic programmes, such as Last of the Summer Wine or All Creatures Great and Small.
Sunday:

We travel over Wadsworth Moor on our way to Haworth, where the Bronte Parsonage was the setting for the Doctor's Surgery in The Railway Children as was the station at Oakworth. As a special treat we have included a ride on this famous TV railway which in reality was the beautifully preserved Keighley & Worth Line. We return via Esholt original home of Emmerdale where the long running TV series was filmed for over twenty years and where it is still possible to visit the 'Woolpack Inn' today.
